Marion “Red” Buchanan

Spring Hill – Funeral services for Marion “Red” Buchanan, 82, Spring Hill, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bruce Funeral Home in Spring Hill.Mr. Buchanan died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe.He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Brush, Colo., the son of John Matthew and Lela Belle Hoppas Buchanan. The family lived in northwest Missouri before moving to Olathe. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1942.Mr. Buchanan was a dairy farmer for many years. He worked for 11 years for Bendix in Kansas City, Mo., as a storekeeper and later worked at Delco Battery and Producers Inc.He was a member of the Olathe Trail Riders and a 53-year member of Morning Grange. He was also a member of Olathe Presbyterian Church. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball in Spring Hill. He enjoyed doing yard work and loved to dance.Mr. Buchanan married Dorothy Richards. They divorced. He married Betty Reynolds in 1982. She preceded him in death.He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle and Wayne; and a sister, Lina Perun.Survivors include a son, John W. and wife Joanne, Silverthorne, Colo.; three daughters, Patricia Ann Meek and husband Jerry, Parker, Lina Jean Guebert and husband Jeff, Manhattan, and Suzi G. Sigler and husband Jeff, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his special friend Dee Bradford, Olathe.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 712 S.
