Alva L. Kingery

Graveside services for Alva L. Kingery, 97, Pomona, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Centropolis. Mr. Kingery died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Hillside Village in De Soto. He was born July 29, 1910, north of Pomona, the son of Alva James and Lora Ann Simmons Kingery. He graduated from Appanoose High School in 1930. Mr. Kingery owned and operated a trucking service for 47 years and also owned Kingery Oil. He was a member of Washington Creek Church of the Brethren.He married Ruth Marie Conley on Dec. 26, 1936, in Fort Scott. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Snyder, Overbrook, and Alice Bond, Eudora; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.Mr. Kingery was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Moses.The family suggests memorials to the North Centropolis Fire District, sent in care of Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
