Lawna Gay Spears-Blevins 1957 - 2007 Lawrence

Memorial services and a celebration of life for Lawna Gay Spears-Blevins, 50, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. May 13 at the Overlook Shelter at Clinton Lake State Park. She will be cremated.Ms. Spears-Blevins died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a 10-year battle with emphysema.She was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Hartshorne, Okla., the daughter of Billy Earl and Doris Spears. She attended Lawrence public schools.Ms. Spears-Blevins worked as a dental hygienist and at Davol Inc. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, singing, dancing, swimming, camping, canoeing and spending time with family.She married Gordon Blevins in 1978. They divorced.Survivors include her parents, Lawrence; two sisters, Carol Spears-Latham and husband Carl, Lawrence, and Lisa Lynn Spears-Tennpenny, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Kellie Blevins, Lawrence; two step-grandchildren, Tristen and James; a niece, Ashley; two nephews, Remington and Billy; and a great-nephew, Emmett.A sister, Sally Dee Spears, and a nephew, Christopher Allen Latham, preceded her in death.The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.E-mail condolences may be sent to <a href="mailtolathamca@prodigy.net">lathamca@prodigy.net</a>.
