Norman “Pod” Miller

Funeral services for Norman “Pod” Miller, 74, Lecompton, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Miller died Friday, April 13, 2007, at his home.He was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Lawrence, the son of Jonas and Alta Burchett Miller.He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion, the Masonic Acacia Lodge 9, AF&AM in Lawrence and the 32 Degree Scottish Rite Bodies of Lawrence.Mr. Miller owned and operated Pod’s Discount Carpet for many years.He married Peggy Keefer on Feb. 3, 1952, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Vickie Smith, Tonganoxie, and Debbie Ritchie and husband Doug, Boxford, Mass.; a son, Darren Miller and wife Pam, Lawrence; and three grandchildren, Scott Ritchie and Shannon and Sarah Smith.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
