Memorial services for Carolyn G. Mikols, 88, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.Mrs. Mikols died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born July 9, 1918, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Grover and Christine LePlantz Segraves.She worked for the Illinois Glass Co. in Los Angeles in the 1940s. She also was the secretary for University of Indiana football coach Bo McMillin in 1946, and secretary in the Kansas University athletic department for coaches J.V. Sikes, Bill Easton and Phog Allen from 1947 to 1952. She then worked at Lawrence National Bank in the 1970s.She was a 50-year member of University Women’s Club, a founding member of University Women’s Investment Group, Ladies Literary League and several bridge clubs in Lawrence.She married Walter Mikols on April 20, 1945, in Los Angeles. He died Nov. 2, 1992.Survivors include a daughter, Donna Mikols, Lawrence; a son, David Mikols, Chicago; and a sister, Mary Wolf, Bunker Hill, Ill.The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
