Betty J. Mole

Funeral services for Betty J. Mole, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Mole died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Lawrence, the daughter of Frank E. and Lura Bailey Jones. She attended Kansas University and lived in Lawrence her entire life.Mrs. Mole was a homemaker. She worked as a meal site manager at the Lawrence Senior Center. Mrs. Mole was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Older Women’s League, Evangeline Chapter 162, Order of the Eastern Star in Baldwin City, a past member and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Adah Chapter 7 and Social Order of Beauceant Lawrence Assembly 25. She was also a member of the Quivira Club of Lawrence and the KU Alumni Association.She married George W. Mole on May 5, 1942, in Lawrence. He died Feb. 14, 2005.Mrs. Mole was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Mole.Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Hempen, Greeley, Colo., and Georgia E. Smith, Elburn, Ill; a brother, Phillip E. Jones, Live Oak, Calif., eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association for the Palliative Care Unit or a cancer research group of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Mole.
