Frances Yancey Meidinger

Funeral services for Frances Yancey Meidinger, 92, Hiawatha, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Hiawatha. Burial will follow in Hiawatha Cemetery.Mrs. Meidinger died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Dec. 9, 1914, near Marshall, Mo., the daughter of Daniel L. and Mary E. Minor Yancey. She graduated from Malta Bend (Mo.) High School. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and later St. Joseph Business College. Mrs. Meidinger worked as a receptionist in St. Joseph, Mo., for Dr. Peterson.She married Ray Meidinger on May 27, 1950, in St. Joseph. He died Dec. 27, 1993. She was a member of several bridge clubs, volunteered as a gray lady for Hiawatha Community Hospital and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hiawatha. Survivors include a son, Richard Meidinger, Topeka; a daughter, Nancy Meidinger, Nashville, Tenn., four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. The family will return to the church after the burial for a time of fellowship and a light lunch.
