Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Peters

Memorial services for Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Peters, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at West Side Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will follow. Private inurnment will be later.Mrs. Peters died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Seymour, Mo., the daughter of Ernest and Sallie Adams Denney. She attended high school in Parsons and later attended Kansas University. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker. She also helped her husband establish his architecture practice in Lawrence.She was a member of West Side Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon and church representative to Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen. She also was a member of the Lawrence Country Club and Douglas County Republican Party and was active in the Deerfield School Parent Teacher Association.She married Richard C. Peters on Dec. 15, 1951, at Forbes Air Base in Topeka. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Christopher C. Peters and wife Julie, Iowa City, Iowa, John C. Peters and wife Michelle, Wellington; a daughter, Laura Peters, Boise, Idaho; three brothers, Donald Denney, Parsons, Guy Denney, Longview, Texas, and Gorman Denney, Galesburg; a sister, Virginia Kinsch, Topeka; and five grandchildren, Hailey Vincent, Ethan Rackham and Nicholas, Jacob and Caleb Peters.The family suggests memorials in her name to the church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Peters.
