Ryan Wayne Simecka 1979 - 2006 Topeka
Services for Ryan Wayne Simecka, 27, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. Burial will be in the Ozawkie Cemetery. Mr. Simecka died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, as a result of a motorcycle wreck.He was born July 26, 1979, in Topeka, the son of Mark and Tonya Deppe Simecka. He attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1997. He received an associate degree in graphic arts from Kaw Valley Vocational School.Mr. Simecka worked at Hallmark Cards in Topeka. While in high school he was a lifeguard at the Oskaloosa swimming pool and taught swimming lessons. He also had worked for E & E Specialty, Payless ShoeSource, the Buckle and Abbott Roofing. He enjoyed outdoor sports, including motorcycling, boating and snowboarding.Survivors include his parents, of Ozawkie; a brother, Cody, Lawrence; grandparents, Pete and Dee Deppe, Ozawkie, and Ben Simecka, Topeka; a great-grandmother, Josephine Keller, Holton; four uncles, Terry Deppe and wife Robin, Holton, Joe Simecka and wife Coleen, Silver Lake, Dave Simecka, Delia, and Benny Simecka and wife Mary, Olathe; two aunts, Sheryl Gudenkauf and husband Mike, Topeka, and Michelle Simecka, Santa Fe, N.M.; and many great-aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.His grandmother, Norma Simecka, died earlier.Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.penwellgabel.com">www.penwellgabel.com</a>.
