Julia Alice Bennett Jackson 1906 - 2006 Yates Center

Services for Julia Alice Bennett Jackson, 99, Yates Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Burial will be at Yates Center Cemetery.Mrs. Jackson died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Neosho Regional Medical Center in Chanute. She was born Nov. 8, 1906, in Piqua, the daughter of Nicholas and Louisa Linder Bennett. She was a lifelong resident of Woodson County.Mrs. Jackson graduated from Yates Center High School in 1927 and taught at Owl Creek and Maple Grove schools.She was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church and later joined the Methodist Church in Yates Center. She was a church pianist for many years. She was a longtime 4-H sewing instructor and was active in Maple Grove Ladies Aide.She married Noel E. Jackson on Feb. 1, 1933, in Clarksdale, Mo. He died Jan. 28, 2001.She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Doreene Pringle, and a grandson.Survivors include a son, Dwight Jackson, Lawrence; three daughters, Eunice Trichler, Johannesburg, South Africa, Ellen Jackson, Yates Center, and Helen Eisele, Fredonia; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Woodson County 4-H or Woodson County Education Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center 66783.
