Ellen Marguerite Kramer

Services for Ellen Marguerite Clare Kramer, 87, Ozawkie, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ozawkie Cemetery.Mrs. Kramer died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.She was born March 8, 1919, in Ozawkie, the daughter of John T. and Maude Michael Clare. She graduated from Ozawkie Rural High School in 1936 and Central Business College in Kansas City in 1937. She lived her entire life in the Ozawkie area.Mrs. Kramer worked for the Jefferson County ASC office. She worked at the Supply Depot in Topeka for seven years, including during World War II. She and her husband owned a dairy business from 1952 to 1964. She worked in the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office from 1965 to 1970. She and her husband later owned and managed the Lakeside Drive-In at Ozawkie from 1970 to 1975. She was a member of Ozawkie United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer. She was a member of the Lakeside Swingers and Perry Squares dance clubs. She was a 62-year member of Pleasant View Grange and Kansas State Grange. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 399 in Meriden for 58 years, a 50-year member of Rebeka Lodge 657 in Ozawkie and served as a 4-H Club leader for several years. Mrs. Kramer also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 36 in Oskaloosa, Daughters of the American Revolution in Topeka, Jefferson County Genealogical Society, Jefferson County Extension Unit Council and the Irish Cultural Institute in Topeka.She married William Anthony Kramer on Sept. 8, 1938, in Holton. He died March 10, 2005.Survivors include two sons, Joe, Brewster, and William J., Oskaloosa; a daughter, Nancy Brunton, Ozawkie; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildrenThe family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to Ozawkie Cemetery Assn., sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
