Terry Farmer

Services for Terry Farmer, 55, Oskaloosa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.Mr. Farmer died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Kansas Highway 4 near the Jefferson-Shawnee County line.He was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Overbrook, the son of Raymond Boyd Sr. and Mona Agnes Winchell Farmer. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1969 and attended Highland Community College, Washburn University and Kansas University.Mr. Farmer served in Ethiopia with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked for more than 30 years as a balance man in the Bandbury Division of Goodyear Tire Co. in Topeka. He was co-owner and operator of the Friendly Kansan Restaurant in Oskaloosa for four years and a member of United Steel Workers Union in Topeka and the American Legion Post No. 225 in Ozawkie.He married Barbara Powell on Jan. 14, 1987, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Shawn, Worcester, Pa., and Jeff, Perry; a daughter, Terra, Oskaloosa; four brothers, Thomas, Smyrna, Tenn., and Ray, Leonard “Bill” and Gary, all of Oskaloosa; and three sisters, Reta Foley, Lecompton, and Juanita Basinger and Marcia Butell, both of Lawrence.Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the Oskaloosa Community Center Building Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
