Fremont W. Hornberger

Services for Fremont W. Hornberger, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial in Clinton Cemetery will follow a luncheon at the church.Mr. Hornberger died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006.He was born June 17, 1920, in Worden, the son of Henry Gotthold and Emma Alt Hornberger.Mr. Hornberger farmed for many years in the Worden area. He co-owned and operated Lawrence Implement Co. and later sold farm machinery for Kuhn Truck and Tractor. He worked for Douglas County as director of maintenance and retired in 1988. He served as a bailiff for Douglas County District Courts after he retired.He married Louise Baldwin on Sept. 6, 1942, in Clinton. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Robert, Clarendon, Texas, and Steve, Lawrence; five grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Jeff Hornberger, Leslie Miller and Jordan Bass; and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County 4-H Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
