Services for Wayne A. Turner, 76, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie. Private burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.Mr. Turner died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at his home.He was born Aug. 25, 1930, in Tonganoxie, the son of Arthur and Edna Campbell Turner.Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He served in the Korean War and retired as a senior chief petty officer in 1967. He was a business owner in Tonganoxie from 1967 to 1969. He served as Leavenworth County deputy sheriff from 1969 to 1980 and Leavenworth County undersheriff from 1980 to 1990.Survivors include his wife, Jean E. Turner, of the home; four sons, Wayne A. Jr., Dickinson, Texas, Robert W., Scottsdale, Ariz., David C., Dallas, and Michael S., Shawnee; a daughter, Lisa A. Moorman, Douglas, Ga.; a brother, Verden “Bud,” Oklahoma City; a sister, Joyce Copeland, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; and six grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund or Tonganoxie Historical Society, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O.
