The Rev. Jack Hoekstra

A memorial celebration for Jack Hoekstra, 73, Queen Creek, Ariz., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Underwood Cemetery in Williamstown.Mr. Hoekstra died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in Chandler, Ariz.He was born April 2, 1933, in Williamstown, the son of Frank and Katherine Hoekstra. He graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1950. He attended various universities, including Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Ore., and Manhattan Christian College in Kansas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biblical science and Bachelor of Science degree in sacred ministries.He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War. He ministered as an intern at Cole Community Church in Boise, Idaho, and was a pastor at churches in Manderson, Wyo., Cascade, Idaho, and Ogden and McFarland. He married Patty Hodges on Dec. 20, 1963, in Perry. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include four sons, Frank, Mike, Jon and Chris; two daughters, Jacque and Stephanie; a sister, Anita Pence; a brother, William; and 13 grandchildren.A son, David, died earlier.The family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of Barnett Funeral Home, 820 Liberty St., Oskaloosa 66066.
