Forrest James Bookout

Graveside services for Forrest James Bookout, 81, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Cemetery in rural Jefferson County.Mr. Bookout died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in Lawrence.He was born April 23, 1925, in Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of Clarence Edmund and Lorna Elnora Gilbert Bookout. He earned his high school diploma while in the U.S.. Navy.Mr. Bookout served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and worked for the Lawrence Box Factory and for B.F. Goodrich in Lawrence. He owned and operated T.I.R.E. from 1971 to 1987 and worked for the company until 1994. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.He married Margaret Lucille Taylor on Oct. 30, 1944, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Karen Pearson, Lawrence, and Janet Hanson and husband Keith, Olathe; a grandson, David Hanson, Olathe; three granddaughters, Diana Brown and husband Mark, Peoria, Ariz., Sheryl Rector and husband Jim, Tempe, Ariz., and Christina Hanson, Olathe; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Nicholas Brown, Peoria, Ariz.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
