Charles A. Myers

Services for Charles A. Myers, 89, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery near Centropolis.Mr. Myers died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at his home.He was born April 19, 1917, near Centropolis, the son of Charles A. Myers Sr. and Pearl Allen Myers. He grew up and attended schools in Franklin County. He lived in Topeka since 1995.Mr. Myers worked as a supervisor for Sunflower Ordnance Depot in De Soto and later owned and operated a Quality Oil service station in Florence. He returned to work at the Sunflower Ordnance Depot from 1967 until he retired in 1982. He was a member of Centropolis Christian Church and a 50 year member of the Mason in Colony. He enjoyed horses and camping in Texas for the past 15 winters.He married Elma “Dee” Shipps on March 21, 1936, in Harrisonville, Mo. They shared more than 70 years of marriage. She survives, of the home. Survivors include a son, Don Myers and wife Judie, Wichita; two daughters, Marilyn Neuenswander, Lawrence, and Nancy Caudell and husband Charles, Hillsboro; two sisters, Doris Churchbaugh, Baldwin, and Adeline Watts and husband Norman, Centropolis; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.His parents died earlier, and four brothers, Howard, Claude, George and Fred, died earlier.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
