Sarah Ellen McCall Thomas 1913 - 2006 Conway, S.C.

Services for Sarah Ellen Thomas, 93, Conway, S.C., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Indian Hills Church of God in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.Mrs. Thomas died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, in Conway.She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Aldrich, Mo., the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Belle Warner McCall. She moved to Lawrence, where she graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. She attended Emporia State Teacher's College.Mrs. Thomas was employed by the city clerk's office in Ames, Iowa, for five years. She worked at Kansas University in the student financial aid division, auditing department and extension library.Mrs. Thomas and her husband were founders of what is now the Indian Hills Church of God and spent more than 44 years in the ministry in eight states.She married the Rev. Clarence Thomas on Jan. 1, 1934, in Lawrence. He died in 1975. Survivors include a son, David Allen Thomas, Goldsboro, N.C.; a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Pierce, Conway; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church or Mercy Hospice, P.O.
