Patricia C. "Patty" Jaimes 1941 - 2006 Lawrence
Services for Patricia C. "Patty" Jaimes, 65, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.Ms. Jaimes died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., as a result of an aortic aneurysm.She was born July 8, 1941, in Waverly, the daughter of Ernest and Nadine Larue Hess. She moved from Waverly to Lawrence in 1959.Ms. Jaimes served six consecutive terms as Douglas County clerk from 1980 until she retired in 2004. She was originally responsible for paying the county's bills and handling the county payroll, which the clerk's office no longer handles. She was also Douglas County's chief elections officer, and her office handled voter registration. She had served as deputy clerk for many years under Delbert Mathia before she was elected clerk in 1980. She was a member of several professional organizations during her career. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, the Red Hat Society and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she was recently elected president of her local chapter.Survivors include two sons, Brian D., Overland Park, and Jeff J., of the home; two brothers, Jack Hess, Burlingame, and James Hess, Topeka; and two grandchildren, Katrina and Nicholas Jaimes, Overland Park.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>.
