Leona Elizabeth Hunsinger

Graveside services for Leona Elizabeth Hunsinger, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Hunsinger died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Baldwin Health Care Center.She was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Missouri, the daughter of Alfred and Myrtle Ann Ireland Faler.Mrs. Hunsinger worked as a waitress at the Eldridge Hotel for 22 years and then worked for Lawrence school district food services for 13 years. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Mount Oread Aerie 309. She served on the Penn House Executive Board for 10 years.She married Harold Hunsinger on March 14, 1943, in Ottawa. He died June 18, 1992.Survivors include a daughter, Bobbi Kellum, Lecompton; a brother, Richard Faler, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Velma Pine, Lawrence, and Edna Ray, Rock Springs, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.A son, Doug Hunsinger, died earlier, and two brothers and two sisters died earlier, and a grandson, Douglas Hunsinger II, also died earlier.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn. or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to www.warrenmcelwain.com.
