Graveside services for Arthur G. McPherson, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo. A masonic service by Ivanhoe Lodge No. 446 will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo.Mr. McPherson died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Athens, Ohio, the son of Arthur D. and Mildred M. Smith McPherson.Mr. McPherson served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a longtime salesman.He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 50-year member of the Knights of Templar and a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 in Lawrence. He was a master mason in Athens and a shriner. He also was a member of the American Water Works Assn. His wife, Mary, died in 1984.Survivors include a son, Thomas and wife Mary; two daughters, Carol Gassen and husband Richard, and Annie McPherson and husband David; two brothers, Ed and Don; a sister, Dea Sue Loofbourrow; five grandchildren, Chad, Brandon, Brooke, Devender and Ranjit; and two great-grandchildren, Zachery and Benjamin.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, 325 Maine, Lawrence 66044.
