Mary Emelia Buterin Lind 1925 - 2006 Kansas City, Kan.
Services for Mary Emelia Buterin Lind, 81, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home and Memorial Garden Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan.Mrs. Lind died Oct. 2, 2006, at her daughter's home in Lawrence after a two-year battle with lung cancer.She was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Jack and Stella Osmak Buterin. She lived her entire life in Kansas City, Kan., where she attended Central Grade School and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1943.Mrs. Lind worked for the Kansas City, Kan., Public Library from 1959 until she retired in 1990. She earned a commercial truck driver's license so she could drive the library's bookmobile. She became a Master Gardener and developed her home and garden into a showpiece.She married Alan Gustav Lind in 1948. He died in 2000.Survivors include two sons, Gus Lind and wife Trudy, and Jack Edward Lind; three daughters, Mary Barbara Lind, Margaret Rose Ramberg and husband Steve of Lawrence, and Eleanor Joy Philpot and husband Andy; a brother, John Buterin and wife Melba; six grandchildren, Jared, Grant, Alex and Isabella Lind, and Mason and Austin Engling; a great-grandchild, Amaya Lind; and a cousin, Rose Malnar.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County, 200 Maine, Suite D, Lawrence 66044.
