Patrick J. Schofield

Carbondale, Pa. – Mass of Christian burial for Patrick J. Schofield, 97, Lawrence, Kan., will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale. Interment will be at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Finch Hill.Mr. Schofield died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.He was born May 24, 1909, in Scranton, the son of John and Bridget Mayock Schofield.Mr. Schofield served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 3rd Infantry and participated in the landing at Anzio, where he was wounded. He was the former owner of L & S Auto Parts Store in Carbondale.He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale and St. John the Evangelist Church in Lawrence. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Carbondale Lions Club.His wife, Mary Brennan Schofield, died in 2003.A son, Kenneth, died in 1980.Survivors include a daughter, Ann Schofield, Lawrence.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Brennan and Brennan Funeral Home in Carbondale.The family suggests memorials to St. John the Evangelist Church, 1229 Vt., Lawrence 66044, Heart of America Hospice, 1311 Wakarusa Drive, Lawrence 66049, or the Good Samaritan Fund, sent in care of Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, 1429 Kasold Drive, Lawrence 66049.
