Anna Viola Geisler

Alma – Services for Anna Viola Geisler, 93, McFarland, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Peace United Church of Christ in Alma. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Geisler died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Lawrence.She was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Alma, the daughter Charles and Emma Schmanke Metzger. She attended the Kuenzli Creek Rural School near her family home in Wabaunsee County.Mrs. Geisler was a homemaker. She and her husband farmed northwest of Alma until they retired in 1973. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Alma and McFarland Senior Citizens’ Group. She was a quilter and received numerous ribbons and awards at various fairs. She won Grand Champion for a quilt at the Kansas State Fair in Topeka.She married Herman A. Geisler on April 15, 1934, in Alma. He died Oct. 11, 1981.A son, Marvin A. Geisler, also died earlier.Survivors include a son, Eldon C. Geisler, Boulder, Colo.; two daughters, Doris A. Schmitz, Louisville, Colo., and Marie E. Kaulaity, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church before the services.The family suggests memorials to the church or McFarland Senior Citizens, sent in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Alma, P.O.
