John W. Gibbon Sr. 1941 - 2006 Lawrence
Services for John W. Gibbon Sr., 65, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at Christ Community Church in Lawrence.Mr. Gibbon died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.He was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Indiana, the son of John O. and Ruth Brashier Gibbon. He graduated in 1959 from Hobart High School in Hobart, Ind.Mr. Gibbon worked at NIPSCO in northern Indiana for 37 years. He moved in 2000 to Lawrence, where he drove a school bus for Laidlaw before switching to tour buses for Kincaid and Arrow Stage Lines. He was a member of Christ Community Church.He married Marie L. Bessler in 1962. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, John W. Jr., Highland, Ind.; a daughter, Lisa M. Gibbon Hunt and husband Tom, Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Allison M., T. Allan, Meagan K. and Morgan D. Hunt.Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at the funeral home.
