Betty G. Nelson 1914 - 2006
Services for Betty G. Nelson, 92, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Graveside services will be at Lenora Cemetery, Lenora.Mrs. Nelson died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006.She was born May 20, 1914, in Decatur County, the daughter of Arthur S. and Ulah Hakes Bennett. She received a master's degree in psychology from Fort Hays State College in 1941. She moved from Topeka to Lawrence in 1999.Mrs. Nelson was a medical librarian for Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center and retired in 1979.She was a member of Daughters of American Colonists and Stormont-Vail Auxiliary and a sustaining member of the Soroptimist Club in Topeka.She married Rex L. Culley in 1940. They later divorced. She married Kenneth A. Nelson in 1979. He died in 1998.Survivors include two daughters, Judith Ann Culley, Lawrence, and Janice L. Westfall, Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Karyl Sylken, Portland, Maine; two stepsons, Stephen Nelson, Annandale, Va., and Bob Nelson, Holyoke, Mass.; two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.The family will meet with friends after the service at the church.
