Humboldt – Graveside services for Harold Ralph Williams, 96, Baldwin, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.Mr. Williams died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.He was born Aug. 30, 1910, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., the son of Wilson and Minnie Ryan Williams. He attended schools in Mammoth Springs and Humboldt.Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines. He helped his father in the grocery business in Humboldt from 1923 to 1929. He then moved to Chicago and worked for the National Tea Co. In 1945 he returned to Humboldt, where he operated Harold’s of Humboldt furniture and appliance store.He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pacific Lodge No. 29 A.F. & A.M., Order of the Eastern Star Humboldt Chapter No. 170, American Legion, Humboldt Golf Club, Rotary Club and Humboldt Historical Society Museum.He married Vesta Isaac on Dec. 25, 1934, in Chicago. She died July 22, 2006.Survivors include two daughters, Donna Mayfield and Frankie Snyder, both of Lawrence; a son, Roger, Shawnee; a sister, Helyn Kramer, Glenview, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to the Humboldt Historical Society Museum, sent in care of the funeral home, 908 Central, Humboldt 66748.Online condolences may be sent at www.penwellgabel.com
