J. Robert Nelson

A celebration of life for J. Robert Nelson, 73, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Worden United Methodist Church east of Overbrook. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery.Mr. Nelson died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Aug. 27, 1933, near Lyndon, the son of Martin and Lucille Thompson Nelson.He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, owned a farm supply business in Osage City, worked for Essex Wire in Topeka and retired from Lawrence Technology.He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Worden United Methodist Church and the Euclid Lodge No. 101 A.F. & A.M. in Lyndon.He married Nancy Deskins. They later divorced. He married Patricia Abraham Wills in 1967. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Mark, Topeka, and Steve, Bostwick, Ga.; three daughters, Kathy Wills Stauffer, Fordland, Mo.; Terri Wills Stout, Scranton; and Karen Wills Phelon, Melvern; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church building fund or prostate cancer research through the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Center, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon 66451.
