Robert Edward Habluetzel

Services for Robert “Bob” Edward Habluetzel, 88, Clay Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.Mr. Habluetzel died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center.He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Green, the son of Walter and Lena Roth Habluetzel.Mr. Habluetzel served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He farmed in Clay County all his life.He married Ruth Reed on March 14, 1941. She died April 27, 2004.Two sons and a grandson died earlier.Survivors include two sons, Gary, Clay Center, and Lynn, Lawrence; a daughter, Karen, Olathe; two brothers, Lawrence and Arlan, both of Clay Center; two sisters, Lillian Haake and Alice Wickstrum, both of Clay Center; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.The family suggests memorials to United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 918 Seventh St., Clay Center 67432.
