Walter Allen Schimmel 1928 - 2006 Lawrence
Services for Walter Allen Schimmel, 78, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Schimmel died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.He was born April 19, 1928 in Higgensville, Mo., the son of William and Blanche Dabler Schimmel.Mr. Schimmel served in the U.S. Army. He worked for All Star Dairy for 38 years. He worked at Anderson Rental after he retired.He married Alice M. Pressgrove in 1950. They divorced.Survivors include three sons, Stephen A., Wichita, Gene, Lawrence, and Rodney J., Rockwall, Texas; two brothers, William, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Raymond, Lecompton; and seven grandchildren.A grandson died earlier.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Douglas County Senior Services, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>.
