Winifred Margaret “Peg” Wright

Services for Winifred Margaret “Peg” Wright, 96, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.Mrs. Wright died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born April 8, 1910, in Watertown, N.Y., the daughter of Sidney A. and Margaret E. Arquitte Pond. She graduated from Watertown High School and received nurse’s training at Mercy Hospital in Watertown. She moved to Lawrence in 1985. Mrs. Wright became a Registered Nurse in 1930 and worked in hospitals and doctor’s offices in Watertown and Junction City. She was a member of the St. John’s Altar Society, Forever Young group, Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Corpus Christi Coffee Group. She volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, St. John’s Rummage House and Senior Citizen’s group.She married Thomas Francis Wright on June 25, 1930, in Watertown. He died July 21, 1989. A son, Richard “Dick” Wright, died in 1999.Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Maxine Wright, Lawrence; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, where the family will receive friends following a rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to the church or to Kansas University Endowment Association, Dick Wright Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
