Gustav Koerth 1921 - 2006 Tonganoxie

Services for Gustav "Gus" Koerth, 85, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.Mr. Koerth died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.He was born June 19, 1921, in Burton, Texas, the son of Herman and Hedwig Nitche Koerth.Mr. Koerth served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a refinery worker for Phillips Petroleum Company in Kansas City, Kan., for 35 years. He drove a bus for the Basehor school district and later Tonganoxie school district after he retired. He was a member of West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie.He married Althea Pike on March 3, 1943, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Richard, Topeka, Bruce, Tonganoxie, and Howard, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Elise Rebstock, Naussaw Bay, Texas, and Lillian Wardlow, Lincoln, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the church or Midland Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
