Velma Velora Vance Postma

Services for Velma Velora Vance Turner Postma, 88, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Washington Creek Church of the Brethren in southwest Douglas County. Burial will follow in Washington Creek Cemetery.Mrs. Postma died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at a Baldwin nursing home.She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in rural Mercer County, Mo., the daughter of Roy Vincent and Frances Mary Minerva Mae Schweers Vance. She moved to Douglas County near Globe in 1919. She attended Centennial Grade School and Overbrook Rural High School.She enjoyed traveling, quilting, crocheting and other crafts, collecting antique items and cooking.Mrs. Postma married Albert Ivan Turner on Oct. 2, 1940. He died Feb. 22, 1979. She married Richard Flory Postma on Oct. 12, 1986. He died May 14, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Glea and Eph, and a sister, Kathryn Oehrle.Survivors include a daughter, Waneta Darlene Turner, Baldwin, and several nieces and nephews.Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, Lawrence Humane Society or Cat Association of Topeka, sent in care of Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
