Richard Clifford Kaiser 1918 - 2006
Services for Richard Clifford "Dick" Kaiser, 87, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Paola. Burial will be in Paola Cemetery.Mr. Kaiser died Monday, May 22, 2006, at his home.He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of William Henry and Clara Lee Ford Kaiser.Mr. Kaiser moved to the Pressonville community west of Paola before moving to Paola, where he attended schools and graduated from Paola High School in 1936. He attended Kansas University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.He worked at the family business, Kaiser Furniture Co., which his mother started in 1936. He and his brother Jack sold the furniture part of the company in 1981 and stayed in the floor-covering and custom drapery business for many years before they retired. He moved from Paola to Lawrence in June 2004.Mr. Kaiser was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Paola, where he served in several offices. He was an active member of the local business community and a member of the Paola Chamber of Commerce.He married Mary Ruth McDade on Jan. 14, 1945, in Paola. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Ann Evans, Lawrence, and Susan Young, Mechanicsville, Md.; two brothers, John "Jack," Lawrence, and Robert, Colorado; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many friends.A brother, William, died earlier.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson & Son Funeral Home's Paola Chapel.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, 305 N.
