Alice Jane Robertson Bond

Services for Alice Jane Robertson Bond, 86, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Bond died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Jackson, Minn., the daughter of John Gordon and Ruth Knox Robertson. She received a Bachelor of Arts from McAlister College in St. Paul, Minn. She and her husband lived in Hillsdale, Mich., Carbondale and Carterville, Ill.; Fargo, N.D., and Pueblo, Colo.Mrs. Bond joined the Navy Waves in World War II. She worked as a social worker in Duluth and Jackson, Minn. She was a member of Faith Nazarene Church and enjoyed participating in the prayer chain. She also enjoyed camping and backpacking in Colorado, reading stories to children and playing games.She married John A. Bond on Aug. 15, 1949, in Jackson, Minn. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, David W. Bond, and his wife, Ramona, Hackensack, Minn.; a daughter, Jane I. Hoyt, Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas and Grace Hoyt, John Bond, Michelle Reitmeier, and Shawn and Stacey Snobeck; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.Two brothers, Knox and John Robertson, died earlier, and two sisters, Ruth Strenger and Isabel Robertson, died earlier.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
