Michael Joseph Pitnick 1951 - 2006
A funeral Mass for Michael Joseph Pitnick, 55, Leawood, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cure of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.Mr. Pitnick died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his home.He was born April 13, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John R. and Ruth Catherine Pitnick.He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1970 and attended Johnson County Community College. He lived in Edgerton and Lawrence for more than 10 years.Mr. Pitnick worked in the grocery business for more than 30 years with Safeway, Food Barn and Price Chopper, where he was a manager.Survivors include his father, of Leawood; two daughters, Erica Pitnick, Buckner, Mo., and Shannon Noland, Warsaw, Mo.; three brothers, John R. III, Larkspur, Calif., James L., Norfolk, Va., and Robert F., Leawood; and two sisters, Carol R. Hoelscher, Sparks, Nev., and Catherine A. Allen, Lenexa.Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church, where a rosary will be said at 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at a luncheon at the family home after the burial Saturday.The family suggests memorials to Cancer Action, 10520 Barkley, Suite 100, Overland Park 66212, or the Salvation Army, sent in care of Joseph A. Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th and Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66102.
