Jack Lee Brenton 1935 - 2006 Lawrence
Services for Jack Lee Brenton, 70, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Graveside services with military honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Brenton died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born May 30, 1935, in Eureka, the son of Lee H. and Nadine Killion Brenton. He graduated from Eureka High School and attended Emporia State University and Kansas University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity. He moved to Lawrence from Emporia in 1961.Mr. Brenton served in the U.S. Army in 1954-1956 and later in the Kansas National Guard. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 12 years.He retired from Hallmark Cards, where he was a maintenance specialist, in 2000. He was an assistant baseball coach with the Holcom League for Veterans of Foreign Wars from 1974 to 1976 and the Babe Ruth League for Breakfast Optimists from 1981 to 1986. He was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrence.He married Glenda Colene Krug on Dec. 22, 1957, in Eureka. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Michael R., Shawnee, and Daniel W., Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church, Lawrence Humane Society or Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to email@example.com, subject: Brenton.
