Pauline F. Webber Carpenter 1929 - 2006
Services for Pauline F. Webber Carpenter, 76, Wellsville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mrs. Carpenter died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at her home.She was born May 30, 1929, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Harold and Berle Webber. She moved from Lawrence to California in August 2002 and then to Gardner before she moved to Wellsville.Mrs. Carpenter worked as the secretary to the dean of the School of Engineering at Kansas University for 34 years before she retired. She was married to Ronald "Gene" Carpenter on April 7, 1972, in Miami, Okla. He died July 6, 1996.Survivors include a son, Richard Mark, Escondido, Calif.; two stepsons, Chris Carpenter, Thornton, Colo., and Ronald G. Carpenter Jr., Gardner; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Sullivan, Wellsville, and Sharon Rogers, Olathe, a brother, Bill Webber, Dallas; a sister, Betty Leslie, Lecompton; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
