Charles Oatis 1962 - 2006
Services for Charles Oatis, 43, Lawrence, will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Mr. Oatis died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Dec. 10, 1962, in Hollandale, Miss., the son of David Strong and Bernice Young Oatis. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1981.Mr. Oatis worked for Food Service at Kansas University for seven years.Survivors include five brothers, Robert, Willie, Willie James Moore and Perry, all of Lawrence, and Dennis, Dallas; and a sister, Mattie Oatis, Long Beach, Calif.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Charles Oatis Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
