Lorraine Carlson Gray

Graveside services for Lorraine Carlson Gray, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church.Mrs. Gray died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Baldwin.She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Smolan, the daughter of Albin J. and Eve Stone Carlson. She received a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University’s School of Business in 1944.Mrs. Gray worked at Commerce Bank and Trust in Kansas City, Mo., for two years and later was a homemaker. She had lived in Lawrence since 1947 and moved to Baldwin in 2002.She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church for more than 55 years. She and her husband were co-chairpersons of the Christian education department, and she served many years as a volunteer and board member for the church’s Thrift Shop. She was a member and past president of University Club bridge group.She married Theodore J. Gray on March 20, 1947, in Lawrence. He died Sept. 18, 1992.Survivors include a daughter, Leanne Titcomb, Bowdoin, Maine; a son, William C. Gray, Baldwin; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or the church, sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Gray.
