JoAnn Madl 1924 - 2006 Baldwin
Services for JoAnn Madl, 81, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Baldwin.Mrs. Madl died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.She was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Monte Vista, Colo., the daughter of Roy and Ester Ferguson Merchant. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1941 and business college in 1942.Mrs. Madl worked for two years at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in De Soto. She was active in Home Demonstration Units of Douglas County and was a member and officer of Eastern Star. She was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church, where she was organist for many years. She served on Douglas County and Palmyra Township election boards for several years. She married Robert L. Madl on Oct. 20, 1943, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Ronald Madl, Manhattan, Duayne Madl, Lake Quivira, and Rick Madl, Baldwin; a sister, Julia Sherman, Story City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends at the church following a rosary at 6 p.m. Sunday.The family suggests memorials to Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin 66006.
