Lewis Palmer

Services for Dr. Lewis William Palmer, 67, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Another service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. He donated his body to the Kansas University Medical Center.Dr. Palmer died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his home after a yearlong battle with leukemia.He was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Beloit, the son of Ethel and Randolph Palmer. He graduated from high school in Jewel in 1957 and Phillips University in Enid, Okla., with a Bachelor of Science in biology in May of 1961. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental School with a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He moved from Ulysses to Lawrence in 2005.Dr. Palmer practiced dentistry in Ottawa for three years and practiced in Ulysses from 1967 until he retired in 2005.He married Barbara Crank in 1961 in Annada, Mo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, S. Justin, Wichita, and Nathan R., Seattle; and four grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit, 330 Ark., Lawrence 66044, or University of Kansas Hospital Cancer Center, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, KS 66160.
