Jack Edwin Eskilson 1925 - 2006
A memorial service for Jack Edwin Eskilson, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Lawrence. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.Mr. Eskilson died Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Lawrence.He was born Dec. 26, 1925, in St. Louis, the son of Johann Edwin and Martha Anderson Eskilson. He graduated from high school in Clayton, Mo. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended Central Missouri State Teachers College and the University of Notre Dame.Mr. Eskilson served in the Civil Engineer Corps and later in the U.S. Naval Reserve, which he retired from in 1968 as a lieutenant senior grade. He earned a master's degree in industrial engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and worked for McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, Mo., and Boeing in Wichita. He was a member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, Mensa and sang in barbershop choruses for about 50 years. He also was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrence and was active with the Drop-in Center and ICAN.He married Lois Aydelott on Jan. 30, 1954, in Cleveland. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Eric, Lawrence, and Kurt, Topeka; a daughter, Karen Eskilson, Overland Park; and 10 grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Monday in Wichita and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday in Lawrence.The family suggests memorials to either church, Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence or Overland Park Lutheran Church, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.
