Clara Johanna Brown 1907 - 2006 Emporia
Emporia - Services for Clara Johanna Brown, 98, Emporia, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.Mrs. Brown died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.She was born Oct. 29, 1907, in Hanover, the daughter of John and Josephine Westerholt Kloppenberg.Mrs. Brown was a teacher in western Nebraska for eight years until she married in 1933. She also was a homemaker.She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rosary Altar Society, Lakeside Homemakers Club and Sunflower Extension Unit.She married Mathew Nicholas Brown on June 6, 1933, in Olpe. He died March 8, 2003. A granddaughter and great-granddaughter also died earlier.Survivors include a son, Richard J. Brown, Lawrence; a daughter, Alice M. Eubank, Council Grove; three grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Building Fund or Hand in Hand Hospice, sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia 66801.
