Marjorie M. Ricketts Cooper

Services for Marjorie M. Ricketts Cooper, 92, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Baldwin. Inurnment will follow in Paola Cemetery.Mrs. Cooper died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Baldwin Care Center.She was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Paola, the daughter of Cyrus Wilson and Myrtle Irene Arnold Ricketts. She graduated from Paola High School in 1932 and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Baker University in Baldwin, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She received a master’s degree in English theater from the University of Wisconsin. Mrs. Cooper taught at the elementary and high schools in Vinland. She worked for the Western Auto Assn. store and Davis Paint store in Paola for many years. She also worked at Paola Lumberyard for 12 years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.She married Gail Young in 1942. He was killed in an airplane crash while serving in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. She married Willard E. Cooper in 1955, in Paola. He died Jan. 28, 1974. Survivors include two sons, Arnold Young, Kansas City, Kan., and Eric Young, Augsburg, Germany; and four grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Baldwin Health Care Center, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
