Floyd Todd Wilmes

Funeral services for Floyd Todd Wilmes, 78, Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery.Mr. Wilmes died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 11, 1927, in Island Lake Township, the son of Frank and Millie Sparks Wilmes. He moved to Russell in 1941 and later to Marshall in 1986.Mr. Wilmes farmed in Russell from 1946 to 1961, in the Marshall area from 1961 to 1975 and in the Lynd area from 1975 to 1986. He then worked as a truck driver for McLaughlin and Schulz Inc. and as a country newspaper route carrier for the Marshall Independent. He was a hired farmhand for Raymond Neels and hauled and set up machinery for Bill’s Sales and Service. He was also a MAT bus driver for Western Community Action.He had served on the Zion church board for 10 years and later became a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.He married Edna Richters on Jan. 20, 1946, in Lake Island Township.Survivors include a son, Duane, Lawrence, Kan.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.A son, Dennis, died earlier.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church before the services. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
