Clifford Wayne Harper

Services for Clifford Wayne Harper, 74, Perry, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Private burial will be later.Mr. Harper died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at his home.He was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Lawrence, the son of James Clifford “Frosty” and Gladys Tisdale Harper. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1950.Mr. Harper served in the Kansas National Guard in 1949. He worked as an instructor pilot at the Lawrence airport and was co-owner of Harper-Glenn Aerial Spraying in the 1960s. He retired from the city of Lawrence in 1993 and raised cattle on his farm.He raced midget cars in the 1950s in the Topeka and Lawrence area and was a member of the Kansas Antique Racers Assn. He also was a member of the Baptist Church.He married Martha Ann Eberwein in 1951 in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include his mother, Gladys, Orange County, Calif.; two sons, James, Perry, and Paul, Jourdanton, Texas; a brother, Bruce, Orange County, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
