Freda L. Dietz

Funeral services for Freda L. Dietz, 93, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Dietz died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Eudora Nursing Center.She was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Ness County, the daughter of Frederick William and Amalia Dell Tittel. She attended public schools in Bazine and Otis and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1933. She moved from Ness County to Holton in 1956. She moved from Holton to Topeka in 1965 and then to Lawrence in 1987.Mrs. Dietz was a homemaker and helped her husband farm in Ness City and Holton. She worked at Dibble IGA in Topeka in the deli department for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was the founder and leader of the Quilting and Friendship Group.She married Alvin Julius Dietz on May 3, 1936, in Bazine. He died Feb. 28, 1996.Survivors include a son, Hattan L. Dietz, Lawrence; two daughters, Ellen M. Polacca, and Caryn L. Scott, both of Lawrence; a sister, Rosie Bowker, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday before the services at the church. The family suggest memorials to Haskell LIGHT, the Lutheran Student Center serving Haskell Indian Nations University, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
