Frank E. Miles

Services for Frank E. Miles, 78, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Popkess Mortuary in Seneca. Burial with military honors will be in Seneca Cemetery.Mr. Miles died Monday, June 26, 2006, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.He was born July 12, 1927, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the son of Frank H. and Florence Elliott Miles. He attended school in DuPage County, Ill. He received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1949. Mr. Miles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a farmer and soil conservationist. He managed several farms in Platte and Clay counties in Missouri and owned dairy farms in Oskaloosa and Oneida. He also raised beef cattle. He worked with Kansas State University and local soil conservation groups. He also was an agent for Rural Community Insurance Services for 24 years. He retired from farming in 2005. Mr. Miles was a member of Oneida United Methodist Church and American Legion Earle W. Taylor Post No. 21 in Seneca and a charter member of Nemaha County Historical Society. He was a director for the Mid-America Dairymen Assn.Survivors include four sons, Peter, Seattle, John, Lawrence, Howard, Aiken, S.C., and David, Baldwin; two daughters, Linda Daly, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Amy Giberson, Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Allan, Mission Viejo, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the American Parkinson Disease Assn., sent in care of the mortuary, 814 Castle St., Seneca 66538.
