Shirley J. Welter 1928 - 2006 Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Graveside services for Shirley J. Welter, 78, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grantville Cemetery. Earlier services in Iowa will be at noon Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids.Mrs. Welter died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.She was born May 17, 1928, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Herb and Kitty Dean.Mrs. Welter was a sales secretary for John Zacher Real Estate Co. and later worked as a transcriptionist for IMC, formerly Linn County Orthopedics.She married Don C. Welter in August 1968 in Topeka. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Debbie Roberts, Topeka; a son, Dave Brown, Topeka; three stepdaughters, Debbie Toms, Lawrence, Linda Craig, Olathe, and Cindy Ford, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Assn., sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
